The Ethics Committee for Medical Scientific Research was established on the basis of Article 3, paragraph 1 of Section IV “Medical Scientific Research Involving Humans. Medical Science” of the Health Act, a decision of the Academic Council (Minutes No. 6/30.11.2023), and Order No. RD-396/06.12.2023.

The Ethics Committee for Medical Scientific Research at “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” University – Burgas (ECMSR) is an expert and advisory body responsible for initial ethical review, periodic monitoring, and issuing opinions on the ethical aspects of scientific research conducted at the University.
The scope of expert assessment of the ECMSR includes:

- Clinical and non-clinical biomedical and medico-social research involving human subjects.
- Scientific research involving the use of personal biomedical data, human tissues, and, in particular, genetically modified animals and microorganisms.
